NEET UG 2025: Exam to be Held Offline, No More Online Option

NEWS CHARIOT : The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET UG 2025 exam will be conducted in the traditional offline (pen-and-paper) mode rather than online. This decision comes after extensive discussions between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.

The exam will follow the previous format, consisting of 180 questions to be completed in 180 minutes (3 hours). The NTA clarified that it will be an OMR-based examination, and it will be held on a single day, in a single shift.

Initially, there were speculations that NEET UG 2025 would be conducted online, similar to the JEE Main format, after suggestions by the expert committee led by former ISRO chairman, Kasturirangan. However, after further deliberations, the government decided to continue with the offline method.

End of the Question Selection System

The new update also indicates that the question selection system introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic will be discontinued. For the NEET UG exam, candidates will be required to answer 45 questions each from Physics and Chemistry, and 90 questions from Biology, all within 3 hours.

The NEET UG results will be used for admissions into MBBS, BDS, as well as the BHMS course under the National Commission for Homeopathy. Additionally, candidates will need to clear NEET UG to be eligible for admission to BSc Nursing courses, including those in Armed Medical Service Hospitals.

In conclusion, NEET UG 2025 will return to the pen-and-paper OMR format, and students will need to ensure they are prepared for the traditional examination method.
