Champions Trophy 2025: Tournament Kicks Off Today with High Expectations

NEWS CHARIOT :- The highly anticipated Champions Trophy 2025 is set to begin tomorrow (February 19), with the opening match taking place at Karachi Stadium. The defending champions, Pakistan, will face New Zealand in what promises to be an exciting contest.
India, led by Rohit Sharma, will play their first match on February 20 against Bangladesh. This edition of the tournament has gained special attention as it marks the revival of the tournament, which was cancelled in 2017. For the first time, Pakistan and the UAE will jointly host the event.
While traditional powerhouses like Australia, England, South Africa, and Afghanistan will compete, teams like West Indies and Sri Lanka could not qualify for this prestigious event. However, Pakistan, which co-hosted the 1996 Cricket World Cup along with India and Sri Lanka, will now lead the Champions Trophy 2025 with great pride. Pakistan is aiming not only to host the event successfully but also to make a strong statement in the tournament with stellar performances.
With huge expectations on home soil, the Pakistani team is eager to begin the tournament on a high note. However, they face a tough challenge in their opening match against New Zealand, who have already defeated Pakistan in both the league stage and the final during the preceding triangular series.
This tournament will feature a total of 12 league matches, two semi-finals, and the final, spread across four venues. While India will play all of their three league matches in Dubai, the rest of the matches will take place in Pakistan. Should India reach the semi-finals and then the final, both of those key matches will be held in Dubai, as confirmed by the ICC. If India doesn’t make it to the final, however, the title match will be held in Pakistan.
