Special Leave for Telangana Government Employees and Teachers for MLC Elections

NEWS CHARIOT : In a significant move, the Telangana government has announced special leave for government employees and teachers in certain areas in view of the upcoming MLC elections. The elections for two vacant MLC seats in Telangana are scheduled for February 27, and the government has issued orders granting employees leave to cast their votes.

The government has declared a special general leave for all employees on the polling day to ensure they can exercise their voting rights. This leave also applies to private sector employees and workers. Collector Pamela Satpathy, serving as the Returning Officer for the elections, made the announcement, confirming that this special leave will apply to government employees, teachers, and workers who are registered voters in the Graduate and Teacher MLC constituencies.

The MLC elections will be held for the Medak-Nizamabad-Karimnagar-Adilabad graduate constituency and the teacher’s constituency on February 27. As the election campaigning period has concluded, the government has made provisions for registered voters among government employees and teachers to cast their votes without hindrance. The government has also directed private businesses and companies to facilitate their employees, particularly those holding graduate voting rights, to ensure they can vote.

In addition to granting leave, the Collector has urged private companies, industries, and commercial establishments to provide necessary allowances, such as adjusting work shifts, reducing working hours, or allowing employees to arrive late, to help them participate in the voting process.

The Collector emphasized that both government and private sector employees should make the most of the special leave and allowances to ensure their participation in the MLC elections on February 27.
