Fake Tickets Scam at Srisailam Temple: Two Arrested for Selling Counterfeit Darshan Tickets

NEWS CHARIOT-:Srisailam, a prominent pilgrimage site in Andhra Pradesh, attracts thousands of devotees daily to the Mallikarjuna Swamy temple. However, recently, a growing number of devotees have fallen victim to a fraudulent scheme involving counterfeit darshan tickets. Unscrupulous individuals have been exploiting the innocence of pilgrims by selling fake tickets for temple access, causing significant distress among those who later discover the tickets are invalid.
In a recent development, two individuals involved in selling fake darshan tickets were arrested by the police. The temple’s CEO, Madhusudhan Reddy, took notice of the frequent complaints from devotees and promptly filed a report with the police. Following the complaint, the police investigated and arrested the suspects, who were found to be editing old tickets and selling them to unsuspecting pilgrims.
The fraudulent activities were uncovered when, on February 14, two individuals promised pilgrims entry tickets for darshan and collected thousands of rupees in return. The pilgrims, upon arriving at the scanning center and attempting to use the tickets, found that they could not be scanned. Upon further inspection by temple staff, the tickets were identified as fake. The incident was reported to the temple’s Chief Security Officer, Madhusudhan Reddy, leading to the exposure of the scam.
As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities are warning devotees to be cautious of such scams and are advising them to only purchase tickets directly from the temple premises to avoid falling victim to fraudulent sellers.
