Rangashaipet Brass Cluster Honored at Vividhtaka Amrit Mahotsav

NEWS CHARIOT : The Rangashaipet Brass Cluster from Warangal has received special recognition at the second edition of the Vividhtaka Amrit Mahotsav, which was inaugurated by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Thursday. The cultural festival celebrates India’s diverse heritage, showcasing arts and crafts from states including Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Andhra Pradesh, as well as the Union Territories of Lakshadweep and Puducherry.
The Rangashaipet Brass Cluster, led by Mattewada Pranay Kumar, was highlighted for its intricate brass semi and high embossing techniques. The cluster’s work, reflecting the rich cultural heritage of Warangal, gained national attention at the festival, which runs from March 6 to 9. Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Kumar expressed pride in the recognition, especially as nearly 500 artisans from Telangana participated in the event. He attributed his expertise to his father, Prakash Chary, and emphasized the importance of passing the craft to younger generations.
President Murmu praised the cluster’s artisans and applauded the efforts of younger craftsmen in continuing the tradition. The cluster is supported by NABARD Warangal and the MARI organization, which helps empower artisans with modern techniques to preserve the craft for future generations.
Warangal District Collector, Satya Sharada, congratulated the artisans for their inclusion in the prestigious event, calling it a significant achievement for the district. She also highlighted ongoing initiatives, including collaborations with the Telangana government to allocate land for artisan workspaces and the establishment of a Common Facility Center under the SFURTI initiative.
NABARD District Development Manager Ravi also expressed his admiration, noting that this recognition at Rashtrapati Bhavan will open new avenues for promoting traditional crafts across India.
