Engineering College Fees Set for Major Hike in Telangana from 2025-26

NEWS CHARIOT:-Engineering college fees in Telangana are set to rise significantly from the 2025-26 academic year. Reports indicate that the annual fee for CBIT has been finalized at ₹2.23 lakh.
Several other colleges, including VNR and MGIT, will also see tuition fees reaching ₹2 lakh. The Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) conducted hearings with college management representatives between February 25 and March 10 to finalize the new fee structure for the next three-year block period. The committee reviewed audit reports from the past three years before notifying the college representatives of the revised fees. Most colleges have agreed to the new structure.
While some colleges have seen a significant fee hike, others have had only a nominal increase. Officials noted that some top colleges had lower fee hikes in the past due to technical reasons, leading to higher increases this time. The finalized fees will be recommended to the Telangana government, which will review and issue a Government Order (GO). If necessary, the government may call for a reconsideration of the fee structure.
The Telangana Admission and Fee Regulatory Committee (TAFRC) has announced a significant increase in engineering college tuition fees for the 2025-26 academic year. Chaitanya Bharathi Institute of Technology (CBIT) will now charge ₹2.23 lakh per year, up from ₹1.65 lakh, while VNR Vignana Jyothi Institute of Engineering and Technology (VNRVJIET) has seen its fee rise from ₹1.35 lakh to ₹2.20 lakh. Similarly, Vasavi Engineering College’s fee has increased from ₹1.40 lakh to ₹2.15 lakh, and MGIT’s tuition has gone up from ₹1.60 lakh to ₹2 lakh. Other institutions, such as CVR (₹1.98 lakh from ₹1.50 lakh) and MVSR (₹1.60 lakh from ₹1.30 lakh), have also seen substantial hikes. Smaller increments were observed in colleges like Matrusri (₹1.02 lakh from ₹1 lakh), JBIT (₹1.15 lakh from ₹1.10 lakh), and JBREC (₹1.06 lakh from ₹87,000). Stanley Women’s College will now charge ₹95,000 instead of ₹85,000, while Methodist’s fee has increased from ₹78,000 to ₹86,000. The revised fee structure is pending government approval, and a final decision will be issued through an official Government Order (GO).
The Telangana government will now assess the committee’s recommendations. If authorities find the proposed fees excessive, they may order a review before finalizing and issuing the GO.The significant fee hike is expected to impact thousands of engineering aspirants and their families, potentially influencing college preferences and admission trends for the upcoming academic years.
