Major Child Trafficking Racket uncovered in hyderabad: Babies Sold for Lakhs

NEWS CHARIOT:-A massive child trafficking racket has been exposed, revealing the sale of newborns for lakhs of rupees. In this illegal trade, female infants were sold for ₹4 lakh, while male infants were sold for ₹6 lakh. The operation spanned across multiple states, including Gujarat, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka.
The mastermind behind this operation was Amulya, an Asha worker by profession, but in reality, she was running a baby-selling business. Her method involved purchasing infants in one state and selling them in another. To expand her reach, she appointed brokers in different locations, strengthening her network over time.
Rachakonda police successfully busted the racket and rescued ten babies—six girls and four boys. Investigations revealed that the gang primarily bought infants from Gujarat and Maharashtra and then sold them in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, and Karnataka. The infants were being trafficked across states, depriving them of their right to grow up with their biological families.
The rescued infants were taken to Sishu Vihar, a government child care home in Madhuranagar. Police confirmed that except for one, all rescued babies were under a year old. Until their biological parents are identified, the children will remain under state care. Minister Seethakka has instructed officials to ensure their well-being and ordered a thorough investigation into the case.
Commissioner Sudheer Babu confirmed that police have arrested nine accused individuals, along with 18 parents who illegally adopted the trafficked babies. Investigations revealed that a total of 25 infants had been sold, out of which 16 have been rescued. Efforts are ongoing to locate and rescue the remaining nine children.
This shocking case highlights the growing issue of child trafficking and the need for stricter measures to prevent such crimes. Authorities are continuing their probe to dismantle the entire network and bring all culprits to justice.
