Kakatiya University Proposes Rs.428.82 Crore Budget for 2025-26

NEWS CHARIOT : Kakatiya University has unveiled a proposed budget of Rs.428.82 crore for the 2025-26 financial year, aiming to strengthen its academic and infrastructural development. The budget was presented at the 40th Academic Senate Meeting, presided over by Vice-Chancellor Prof. K. Pratap Reddy, and attended by Registrar Prof. V. Ramachandram and other key members of the academic community.

A significant portion of the budget, Rs.369.21 crore, will be directed toward essential operational expenses such as salaries, pensions, examinations, and various development activities. The university anticipates receiving Rs.195.62 crore as a grant-in-aid from the State Government, with additional income generated through UGC arrears (Rs.32.81 crore), academic fees (Rs.8 crore), internal resources (Rs.41.80 crore), and examination revenues (Rs.50.06 crore). Despite these projections, the budget is expected to run a deficit of Rs.2.45 crore.

Prof. Reddy highlighted several ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing the university’s educational standards, including alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP), digitization of syllabi, and the upskilling of faculty. He also revealed plans to launch a Knowledge Hub (K-Hub) focused on cutting-edge technologies such as machine learning. The university’s academic achievements, including publishing 3,000 high-impact research papers and securing top rankings like NAAC A+ and NIRF, were also emphasized.

In terms of student placements, 195 engineering students and 90 commerce students have been placed through the university’s campus recruitment program. The meeting also discussed strategies to bolster infrastructure through alumni contributions and corporate support, with a Rs.293 crore proposal submitted to the Telangana Chief Minister for further academic and infrastructural advancements. The budget proposal was unanimously approved by the Academic Senate, setting the stage for continued growth at the university.
