Bandi Sanjay Accuses Telangana Government of Environmental Harm and Illegal Land Sale

NEWS CHARIOT:-Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Bandi Sanjay Kumar, has launched a strong attack on the Telangana government, accusing it of attempting to auction off 400 acres of forest land without the necessary central permissions. Sanjay pointed out that the land in question falls under the jurisdiction of the Forest Department, and clearing it for sale would violate Supreme Court rulings that mandate prior approval from the central government for such actions.
The controversy centers around a legal case involving the 400 acres of land in Gachibowli, which is currently under dispute in the Hyderabad High Court. Sanjay noted that an NGO, Vat Foundation, had filed the case, prompting the court to instruct the state government to submit a counter by April 7. Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Sanjay accused the Telangana government of contempt of court by continuing to pursue the land sale.
Sanjay further alleged that the state government’s actions are causing significant environmental harm, with large-scale deforestation taking place to make way for the sale. He criticized the government’s plan to auction off the land in a bid to make a fortune, labeling it as an attempt to profit at the expense of the environment.
The BJP leader also called out the Congress party for its double standards, recalling that the Congress had opposed the sale of government land in the past, particularly under Revanth Reddy’s leadership. He questioned Reddy’s change in stance on the issue and demanded that the government immediately halt the land sale or face public backlash.
Sanjay warned that if the government does not retract its decision, the people of Telangana would take matters into their own hands and hold the authorities accountable for their actions.
