Temple in Andhra Pradesh Offers Biryani as Prasadam, Wins Devotees’ Hearts

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a unique departure from traditional temple offerings, the Sai Baba temple in Balabhadrapuram is winning hearts with an unexpected prasadam — Ready-to-Cook Biryani packets. While most temples serve Pulihora, Pongal, curd rice, or laddus, this temple is delighting devotees with a flavorful and easy-to-prepare biryani mix.

Each packet contains premium basmati rice blended with aromatic spices. When boiled in water, it transforms into a delicious vegetarian biryani, making it both convenient and satisfying for devotees.

The innovative idea was introduced by Sabbella Eshwar Narayana Reddy, a devotee from Balabhadrapuram. Inspired by stories of Sai Baba cooking biryani for his followers, Reddy proposed offering biryani as prasadam. The temple committee embraced the idea, and over the past decade, the response has been overwhelming.

More than 4 lakh packets have been distributed since the initiative began, generating approximately ₹1 crore in revenue. This income helped the temple pay off debts incurred during its construction and has now become a source for community development.

Today, the temple’s earnings support various welfare activities including free meals (annadanam), health camps, and free medical aid for the underprivileged. What started as a novel offering has now become a symbol of devotion, innovation, and service.

Devotees from far and wide now flock to the temple not only for blessings but also to take home a taste of this unique prasadam. The Balabhadrapuram Sai Baba temple has shown that tradition and innovation can beautifully blend to serve both spiritual and social causes.
