Peddapalli MLA Inaugurates Rice Purchase Centers, Announces Bonus for Farmers

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a significant move to support farmers, Peddapalli MLA, Mr. Chintakunta Vijayramana Rao, inaugurated multiple rice purchase centers in the Peddapalli agricultural market and several villages across Pedapalli Mandal on Saturday. These centers, set up under the Single Window and IKP (Indira Kranti Patham) schemes, are aimed at easing the paddy purchase process for local farmers.

During the inauguration, Mr. Vijayramana Rao addressed the gathering, emphasizing that the Congress government is committed to purchasing paddy at support prices without seed cutting, which is a relief for farmers. He also highlighted that the government has been paying substantial bonuses for sunnavaddalu (sun-dried rice). For the previous monsoon season, a total of Rs. 42.36 lakh was paid as bonus to 147 farmers in the Peddapalli agricultural market, while across the state, the government disbursed Rs. 1234 crore in bonuses, with Pedapalli receiving the highest share of Rs. 59.62 crore.

The MLA further stated that farmers in the region would continue to receive a bonus of Rs. 500 per quintal for sunnavaddalu in the ongoing season, as promised by Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao. He also acknowledged that seed companies, under the government’s guidance, are now paying higher prices to farmers, with a rise of Rs. 2,000 to Rs. 5,000 per quintal for seed paddy compared to previous years. Additionally, if a farmer’s crop is damaged due to natural calamities, the government has ensured compensation of Rs. 20,000 per acre.

Mr. Vijayramana Rao also pointed out that the opposition parties, BJP and BRS, have failed to deliver any real benefits for farmers despite being in power for many years. He urged the farmers to utilize the newly established purchase centers and assured them that the government would continue to support them, purchasing paddy at the support price till the last seed.The inauguration event was attended by various local leaders, officials, and hundreds of farmers, signaling strong community support for the Congress government’s farmer welfare initiatives.
