District Collector Pamela Sathpathi Advocates Nutritious Food for Women and Utilization of Anganwadi Services

NEWS CHARIOT:-District Collector Pamela Sathpathi has urged that every woman should consume nutritious food, emphasizing that the health of women is crucial for the well-being of entire families. Her comments were made during the conclusion of the Nutrition Month celebrations, organized by the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) at a private function hall in Choppadandi Mandal.
Addressing the gathering, Collector Sathpathi highlighted the need to raise awareness among women regarding the importance of a balanced diet. She advised women to consume nutritious food, including leafy greens, vegetables, fruits, and millets, to maintain good health. In addition, she spoke about the “Healthy Women Program,” which provides free medical check-ups for women, urging them to take advantage of the service and undergo free check-ups every six months.
The Collector further explained that Anganwadi centers have now evolved into early primary schools, with teachers trained at the state level. She encouraged parents to enroll their children in these centers, where children are not only given nutritious meals but also quality education comparable to corporate standards. She also appealed to parents to enroll their children in government schools for the upcoming academic year, advising them to save the money spent on private schools and invest it in their children’s future higher education.
In a symbolic gesture, the Collector distributed pre-school certificates to children attending Anganwadi centers and examined the Nutrition Mela organized as part of the celebrations. Additionally, she conducted Seemantham (baby shower) ceremonies for pregnant women to promote maternal health.
Other dignitaries present at the event included District Welfare Officer M. Saraswati, CDPO Nursingarani, Special Officer Tirupatirav, DCPO Parveen, Tahsildar Naveen Kumar, Medical Officer Dr. Keerthana, and Supervisor Shashi Kumari.
This initiative aims to foster a healthy and educated future for children and women, while ensuring the effective utilization of government services like Anganwadis and free health check-ups.
