Hanumkonda District Collector Emphasizes Healthy Lifestyle at Poshan Pakhwada Closing Ceremony

NEWS CHARIOT:-The District Collector of Hanumkonda, P. Pravinia, urged the importance of nutritious food for children under five, pregnant women, and new mothers during the closing ceremony of Poshan Pakhwada held at the District Collectorate on Wednesday. The event, organized by the District Welfare Department for Women, Children, Differently-abled, and Elderly, was presided over by District Welfare Officer J. Jayanti.
The program was inaugurated by Collector P. Pravinia, who lit the ceremonial lamp and addressed the gathering. In her speech, she emphasized the need for a holistic approach to improving the health of women and children. She highlighted the critical role of timely services from the Women and Child Welfare Department in addressing malnutrition.
Pravinia stressed that Anganwadi centers should provide essential services such as supplementary nutrition, health check-ups, immunization, and preschool education. She also focused on the first 1000 days of a child’s life, from pregnancy until the child turns two, as a crucial window for healthy development.
On the occasion of National Girl Child Day (January 24), five newly born girl children were honored, and their parents were welcomed with a warm gesture. Various programs were held for children, including alphabet learning, Annaprasan, and a graduation ceremony for those completing preschool education. Pregnant women also participated in a community Seemantham ceremony.
In addition, six beneficiaries of the Sukanya Samriddhi Yojana were presented with passbooks from the post office. The cultural program featured dance performances by children from three ICDS project areas, which entertained the audience with their vibrant routines.
The event saw the participation of several key officials, including RJD Jhansi Lakshmi Bai, District Medical Officer Dr. Appayya, Ayush Doctor Dr. Mahender, District Nutrition Specialist Dr. Sarala, and other district officials. The celebration of Poshan Pakhwada 2025 underscored the collective efforts needed to combat malnutrition and ensure a healthy future for the children and women in the district
