Heavy Rains Kill Hundreds of Parrots in Jhansi’s Singer Village

NEWS CHARIOT:-Torrential rains accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning, and strong gusty winds have caused severe damage across parts of Uttar Pradesh, with a particularly tragic incident reported from Singer village in the Bamore forest range of Jhansi district.

Late Wednesday night, the village was hit by a violent storm, resulting in a heartbreaking scene discovered by locals the next morning. Hundreds of parrots were found dead or severely injured near the village temple by the pond. Locals were left shocked to see the lifeless birds scattered across the ground, many with broken wings, unable to fly.

Residents quickly alerted forest department officials. In response, a team from the Forest Department rushed to the scene and, with the help of villagers, transported the injured parrots to the animal health center in Bamore for treatment. The department also deployed staff to continue searching for more injured or dead birds in the nearby areas.

According to locals, the trees surrounding the temple are home to a large number of parrots. The sudden and powerful storm left the birds with little chance to escape. The combination of strong winds and heavy rainfall caused the parrots to fall from the trees, sustaining fatal injuries upon impact.

The incident has sparked concern among wildlife enthusiasts and environmentalists, calling attention to the vulnerability of birds during extreme weather conditions. Efforts are ongoing to provide care for the surviving parrots and ensure such tragedies can be mitigated in the future.
