NEWS CHARIOT ( Chhattisgarh, Dec.13 ) : In a bizarre incident that took place in Masturi town, Bilaspur district, Chhattisgarh, a bank manager allegedly deceived a farmer by promising a loan of Rs 12 lakh for expansion of poultry farm and eat 900 chicken. The manager not only demanded a commission for processing the loan but also took 900 chickens, valued at Rs 39,000, from the farmer. The incident has raised concerns about corruption and exploitation within the banking system.
The victim, Roopchand Manhar, runs a poultry farm in Masturi. Aspiring to expand his business, he approached the local bank for a loan. The bank manager assured him of the loan but asked for a 10% commission upfront. Believing the manager, Manhar collected the money and gave it to him.
However, the demands did not stop there. The manager revealed his fondness for chicken curry and asked Manhar to bring chicken regularly. Later, he specifically requested “desi” chicken every Saturday. Hoping to secure the loan, Manhar fulfilled the manager’s demands for a long time, providing 900 chickens in total.
Despite this, the bank manager kept delaying the loan approval. Realizing he had been cheated, Manhar decided to take action. He approached the police with his complaint, providing details of the incident and bills for the chickens he had supplied.
Manhar also threatened drastic measures if justice was not served, saying he would set himself on fire in front of the bank. The police have registered a case against the accused bank manager and initiated an investigation.
