Man arrested for growing ganja plan in backyard

NEW CHARIOT (WARANGAL, Dec.13) : A man was arrested for growing ganja (Cannibis) plants in his backyard. The plants, which were cultivated in a manner similar to jasmine (sirimalle) trees, were discovered by local police. Authorities have taken the individual into custody and are investigating further into his illegal activities.

In the New Shaimpet area under the Subedari Police Station jurisdiction, Atla Venkata Narsayya (72), a farm laborer, was looking for ways to make easier money. For this, Venkata Narsayya began growing five-foot-tall cannabis plants in his backyard and was drying some of them to sell. When the Anti-Drugs Control Team received information about the cultivation of cannabis, Inspector Suresh and Sub-Inspector Shiva Keshav conducted a raid at the house.

During the inspection, they identified the cannabis plants in the backyard. The person growing the plants was taken into custody and handed over to the Subedari Police. A case has been registered against the accused. This incident has prompted the police to intensify efforts to curb the illegal cannabis trade in local areas.
