Political Tensions Mar Wedding Celebrations of Former MLA’s Daughter

NEWS CHARIOT (Gadwal, Dec.19) : A dispute arose during the wedding celebrations of the daughter of a former MLA from Alampur constituency in Jogulamba Gadwal district, Telangana. The bride, a doctor, was marrying a groom who is an IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre, currently on probation.
The wedding arrangements were made at a private school in Guntur city on Tuesday night. Reportedly, the bride’s family, affiliated with the Congress party, demanded a procession from their house to the wedding venue with Congress party flags. However, the groom’s family did not agree to this proposal, leading to a verbal altercation between the two families.
The disagreement reportedly caused tensions during what was meant to be a celebratory occasion. The wedding of a young IPS officer, scheduled for Tuesday, was abruptly halted due to unforeseen circumstances.
The wedding of an IPS officer and the daughter of a former Telangana Congress MLA and AICC leader was scheduled on Tuesday. Arrangements were made at Don Bosco School in Guntur city. Tensions arose when the bride’s relatives, following Telangana traditions, proposed a grand procession from a local jute mill on Pattabhipuram Main Road to the wedding venue, featuring the groom and Congress party flags, adding a political flair to the ceremony.
Tensions escalated during the wedding arrangements of an IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre and the daughter of a former Telangana Congress MLA. The groom objected to the political display of Congress flags at the ceremony, citing his position in the civil services and the inappropriateness of such actions.
Despite his concerns, the bride’s relatives and supporters of the former MLA continued with the political display, leading the groom to announce the cancellation of the wedding in protest.
The situation worsened when the bride’s mother, distressed by the developments, suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a private hospital. As Congress workers gathered in large numbers near the groom’s residence, he alerted Guntur police, prompting the deployment of significant police forces to manage the situation.
After intense disagreements and high drama, the dispute was settled by the elders of both families in the wedding of an IPS officer from the Gujarat cadre and the daughter of a former Telangana Congress MLA. The wedding ceremony took place successfully on Wednesday morning, bringing the tense situation to a happy conclusion.
