Justice Shamim Akhter Leads Public Inquiry on SC Sub-categorization

NEWS CHARIOT (Warangal, Dec.20) : Justice Shamim Akhter, the Head of the One-man Commission for the categorization of Scheduled Castes (SC), announced plans to prepare a comprehensive report based on petitions and requests received regarding the sub-categorization of Scheduled Castes. This report will be submitted to the state government following an extensive public inquiry process.
The public inquiry session was conducted at the Collectorate Conference Hall in Hanamkonda, with active participation from stakeholders, including community representatives and concerned citizens. The discussions revolved around addressing disparities within the SC community, with a focus on ensuring equitable representation and resource allocation across sub-castes.
Justice Akhter emphasized the importance of gathering ground-level insights to present a balanced and inclusive report. The commission’s mandate includes understanding the diverse challenges faced by different SC sub-castes and recommending measures to address them effectively.
This initiative is part of the broader effort to achieve social justice and uplift marginalized communities through evidence-based policy recommendations. The findings and suggestions of the commission are expected to play a crucial role in shaping state policies on Scheduled Caste sub-categorization.
Speaking at the public inquiry, Justice Akhter highlighted that the commission was established by the government to study the legal, social, and historical aspects of SC categorization. This includes examining the socio-economic conditions of SC sub-castes and issues faced by SC employees. He announced that the commission has received 135 petitions and requests from various Scheduled Caste (SC) community organizations in the erstwhile Warangal district.
The commission is actively engaging with communities by conducting public inquiries across all regions of the state. These visits aim to gather detailed input from SC organizations to ensure a comprehensive analysis of the challenges and disparities within the community, he added.
