TSRTC to Operate 6,432 Special Buses for Sankranti

NEWS CHARIOT (Hyderabad, JAN.2 ) : In preparation for Sankranti, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) has announced the operation of 6,432 special buses to facilitate safe and hassle-free travel for passengers heading to their hometowns. Of these, 557 services will offer advance reservation options.
Key Highlights:
- Special buses will be operational from January 9 to January 15.
- Buses will run from busy locations in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, Uppal Crossroads, Aramghar, LB Nagar Crossroads, KPHB, Bowenpally, and Gachibowli, to cater to the holiday rush.
- TSRTC has appointed special officers at these locations to manage the crowd and ensure smooth operations.
Andhra Pradesh Routes:
TSRTC will also operate buses from Hyderabad to major destinations in Andhra Pradesh, such as:
- Amalapuram, Kakinada, Kandukuru, Narsapuram, Polavaram, Rajahmundry, Rajolu, Udayagiri, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Ongole, Guntur, Vijayawada, Srisailam, and Tirupati.
Additionally, special buses have been arranged for the return journey from Andhra Pradesh to Telangana.
This year’s arrangements have been scaled up compared to the 5,246 buses operated last Sankranti to accommodate increased passenger demand.
TSRTC has also announced several initiatives for Sankranti travel, including plans to make electric buses available from Karimnagar, Nizamabad, and Warangal.
- Enhanced Facilities for Passengers:
- Temporary shelters, seating arrangements, drinking water, public address systems, and mobile toilets will be set up at busy locations in Hyderabad.
- Free Travel for Women:
- Under the State Government’s Mahalakshmi Scheme, women can avail free travel on select buses, including Palle Velugu, Express, City Ordinary, and Metro Express services. Women are advised to collect zero tickets during their journey.
- Safe Travel Advisory:
- TSRTC has urged the public to avoid unsafe travel in private vehicles and opt for its special buses for a secure journey to their hometowns.
