Free Bus Scheme in Telangana Leads to the Disappearance of Three Schoolgirls
NEWS CHARIOT (NIZAMABAD, JAN.5) : A worrying incident has unfolded in Telangana where the Congress government’s newly introduced free bus travel scheme led to the disappearance of three schoolgirls, sparking alarm in the Nizamabad of Telangana.
The three girls, all 10th-grade students at a government school in Navipet Mandal, were last seen leaving their homes informing their parents they were going to school, but instead, they had orchestrated a plan to spend the entire day traveling around different towns using the free bus services. These girls had carefully carried their Aadhaar cards with them, which served as the necessary identification for boarding the buses.
Once they left their homes, the girls ditched their school bags at a secluded location and met at a common point. They first boarded a bus from the Navipet bus stand and traveled towards nearby towns. Their journey began with a trip to Bodhan, followed by Nizamabad, Kamareddy, and back to Nizamabad. Afterward, they traveled again to Navipet before finally returning to Nizamabad, where they continued their journey for hours, hopping from one bus to another.
Meanwhile, the teachers at the school noticed the absence of the three students when they did not show up for their classes. Concerned, the teachers immediately contacted the girls’ parents. The parents, upon learning their children had not arrived at school despite claiming they were heading there earlier in the morning, began a frantic search. However, after hours of searching with no leads, they approached the local Navipet police station for help.
Acting quickly, the police launched a large-scale search operation. They deployed three specialized teams to track down the missing girls. One of the girls was located when police traced her phone’s signal, which led them to the Nizamabad bus stand. The other two girls were eventually located at the same bus stand later in the day.
Upon locating the missing girls, police officers safely transported them back to the Navipet police station. After ensuring their safety, the girls were handed over to their anxious and relieved parents. This incident, which has created a stir in the local community, has raised concerns about the potential risks of the free bus travel scheme for students.
