23 Maoists Killed in Intense Gunbattle with Security Forces on Telangana-Chhattisgarh Border
NEWS CHARIOT:-A fierce exchange of fire erupted between Maoists and security forces on the Telangana-Chhattisgarh border, marking one of the most significant encounters in recent anti-Maoist operations. The incident occurred in the dense forest region of Karregutta in Bijapur district, Chhattisgarh, where combing operations have been underway for the past two weeks.
Thousands of personnel from elite commando units and state police forces have been participating in Operation “Kagar,” aimed at flushing out Maoist strongholds in the region. Officials reported that until recently, around ten Maoists had been neutralized in the ongoing mission. However, on Wednesday morning, the operation escalated when Maoists ambushed security teams conducting a coordinated search in the Karregutta forest.
According to reliable sources, the gunfight, which lasted for several hours, resulted in the deaths of at least 23 Maoists. Authorities suspect the death toll may rise further, as more bodies are yet to be recovered from the dense forest terrain. A substantial cache of weapons, including automatic rifles, explosives, and Maoist literature, was recovered from the site, highlighting the scale of the insurgent presence in the area.
The operation took a strategic turn as drone surveillance technology was deployed to track Maoist movements before the confrontation. The real-time data provided by drones played a crucial role in locating the insurgents and launching a precise offensive, according to senior police officials.
