Bandi Sanjay Slams State Government Over Poor Pushkaram Arrangements

NEWS CHARIOT:-Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar on Sunday criticized the Telangana Congress government for its inadequate arrangements for the ongoing Saraswati Pushkaram at Kaleshwaram. He questioned the government’s priorities, claiming it was more focused on organizing beauty pageants than addressing the spiritual and cultural significance of the Pushkaram.

Speaking to the media after taking a holy dip along with his wife Aparna, Bandi Sanjay expressed dissatisfaction over the meager ₹35 crore allocated for the Pushkaram arrangements. “How can such a small amount be sufficient when over 50 lakh devotees are expected to participate? In contrast, our government ensured excellent arrangements for 50 crore pilgrims at the Kumbh Mela,” he said.

The Minister emphasized that the Telangana government had failed in managing the event and said that if the BJP were in power in the state, the Pushkarams would have been celebrated as a grand spiritual festival across South India. “We are not against beauty contests, but neglecting sacred events like the Pushkaram is unacceptable,” he added.

Bandi Sanjay also took the opportunity to urge the state to stop making excuses and blaming the Centre for every shortfall. “If the Centre has to do everything, what is the state government here for?” he questioned.

He appealed to the government to develop Kaleshwaram into a prominent spiritual tourism hub, citing the potential of the place due to the Triveni Sangam of the Godavari, Pranahita, and Saraswati rivers. He also reminded the public of past and present government promises to fund the development of the temple, stating that people are well aware of how little has actually been delivered.

After the holy dip and temple visit, priests offered special blessings to the minister and his wife. Concluding his visit, Bandi Sanjay prayed for peace, prosperity, and good health for all devotees attending the Pushkaram.
