BIS and NIT Warangal Sign MoU to Foster Standardization, Research, and Innovation

NEWS CHARIOT (WARANGAL, JAN.10) : The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) and the National Institute of Technology, Warangal (NITW) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) as part of the 78th Foundation Day celebrations of BIS.

The MoU, aimed at strengthening collaboration in standardization, research, development, and conformity assessment, was signed by P.V. Srikanth, Director of the BIS Hyderabad Branch, and Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director of NITW, in the presence of faculty, BIS officials, and students at the NITW campus in Hanamkonda.

The virtual ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries, including the Minister of Consumer Affairs, Prahlad Joshi, Secretary of the Consumer Affairs Department, Nidhi Khare, and the Director General of BIS, Pramod Kumar Tiwari.

In his address, Director P.V. Srikanth highlighted the significance of the partnership in promoting a culture of standardization among students and researchers. He emphasized that the collaboration would foster innovative projects and provide the necessary infrastructure for technological advancements. Srikanth also noted that the partnership would lead to the establishment of a Centre of Excellence in Standardization, Testing, and Conformity Assessment, focusing on research, innovation, and capacity building. This collaboration is poised to play a pivotal role in enhancing India’s position as a global leader in quality and standardization.

NITW Director Prof. Subudhi underscored that the partnership would integrate advanced concepts into academic curricula and expand research opportunities, allowing both students and faculty to gain exposure to global quality standards.
