Black Berry Island: Your Weekend Escape to Tranquility

NEWS CHARIOT (Mulug, Dec.26) : In today’s busy life, people from cities and towns are taking time out to find relaxation and are planning for short trips with their family and friends during weekends or holidays. Black Berry Island is going to be a beautiful destination for those who are seeking mental peace and joy here in the Tadvai forest of Mulugu district.
With the initiative taken by the panchayat raj minister Seethakka, the forest department officials under the leadership of District Collector T.S.Diwakar has developed a picturesque spot near Mondyalathogu in five acres of land present in the midst of Jalagalancha wagu. The island is surrounded by a natural forest environment with a cool and peaceful atmosphere making it a unique attraction for tourists and nature lovers.
The people can easily reach the Black Berry Island by direct buses from Hyderabad and also from neighbouring Andhra Pradesh states. They can take buses heading towards Eturnagaram and Bhadrchalam and should get down at Pasra. The people from Andhra Pradesh must take Bhadrachalam bus and then must board buses heading towards Warangal and Hyderabad.
The island is located about 220 km from Hyderabad and 150 km from Bhadrachalam. While the exact price has not been fixed, it is expected to range from Rs.15,000 to Rs.2,000 per person for each day.
To spend time in games and sports, along with setting up beach volleyball courts, the officials also arranged shuttle courts and other play items for children. Facilities for playing Kho-kho and Kabaddi are also available. Arrangements were also in place for children to play in the Jalagalancha wagu that flows around the island and are also planning to provide fishing facilities in the stream.
50 modern temporary shelters were arranged for tourists for their accommodation. Of which 25 shelters are designed for two people with two beds, while 21 were designed for three people and 4 for four people in the island with laying fencing surrounding the shelters.
A restaurant has been set up to prepare and serve meals according to the preferences of tourists visiting with family and friends. Chefs who are specialists in preparing a variety of delicious dishes in Telangana and North Indian cuisine are hired.
District collector T.S. Diwakar speaking to Deccan Chronicle said that all the set up was made without causing any harm to wildlife and not to cause any pollution to the environment in the forest using naturally available materials investing Rs.1 crores from district collector crucial funds and the revenue generated goes to forest department and district collector to take up various other developmental activities in the district.
Just like in movies, bonfires are lit in the evening, providing a cozy atmosphere for guests to sit around, chat, sing and dance. A huge platform is arranged to one side of the island so that the tourists can view the beautiful scenes of nature and entire forest which adds to the charm.
People of all sections, especially nature lovers can spend a peaceful an enjoyable night amidst nature by visiting to Black Berry Island which is about to be inaugurated through the hands of ministers Konda Surekha and Seethakka in the next couple of days before to the new year celebrations and would be ready to welcome tourists, he added.
