Collector M. Manu Choudhary Inspects Paddy Procurement Center in Pedda Koduru, Urges Farmers to Sell Only at Government Centers

NEWS CHARIOT:-Siddipet District Collector M. Manu Choudhary conducted a surprise inspection at the paddy procurement center in Pedda Koduru village under Chinnakodur Mandal on Saturday. The visit was aimed at assessing the procurement process and ensuring smooth operations during the ongoing Rabi season.

Addressing the farmers at the center, the Collector emphasized the importance of selling paddy exclusively at government-run procurement centers. He pointed out that the Telangana State Government is giving special priority to fine variety rice this season and has even announced a bonus over and above the Minimum Support Price (MSP). “Farmers should not fall prey to middlemen. By selling at the government centers, they will not only receive the MSP but also benefit from the additional bonus declared by the state,” he said.

The Collector inspected the paddy stock being loaded at the center and revealed that it is being transported to the Anjaneya Rice Mill located in Mandapalli village. He stressed that only paddy with acceptable moisture levels should be loaded and transported. “Proper moisture testing must be done before dispatch. Any concerns or issues faced from the miller’s side should be brought to the notice of the authorities immediately,” he added.

To ensure transparency and efficiency, the Collector instructed the staff to weigh the paddy accurately and carry out cleaning through the grain cleaning machine before loading. He also reviewed the available infrastructure at the center and directed officials to maintain adequate stock of gunny bags, cotton threads, weighing machines, and ensure drinking water facilities, especially considering the summer heat.

Accompanying the Collector during the inspection were DRDO Jayadev Arya, MPDO, procurement center staff, and several local farmers. The inspection aimed to reinforce confidence among farmers and streamline procurement operations across the district.
