Congress Faces Internal Turmoil in Karimnagar; RTA Member Demands Suspension of Purumalla Srinivas

NEWS CHARIOT:-Internal rifts in the Telangana Congress came to light as District RTA Member Padala Rahul strongly demanded the immediate suspension of Karimnagar constituency in-charge Purumalla Srinivas, accusing him of violating party discipline and making derogatory remarks against senior Congress leaders.

Rahul expressed outrage over Srinivas’s comments made during the district review meeting on April 28, where he allegedly criticized State PCC President Bomma Mahesh Kumar, Ministers Uttam Kumar Reddy and Ponnam Prabhakar, and Parliament In-charge Velichala Rajender Rao. Rahul stated that such remarks demoralize party workers and create unrest among the cadre.
He recalled that AICC Telangana in-charge Meenakshi Natarajan had earlier instructed party members to resolve internal issues privately, warning of disciplinary action against those tarnishing the party’s image in public. Rahul stressed that loyal Congress workers who stood by the party during tough times should be respected and protected from baseless accusations.

Citing Srinivas’s past behavior, Rahul questioned his loyalty, alleging that he joined the Congress only two months before the last assembly elections and then shifted allegiance to rival candidate Gangula Kamalakar, thereby damaging the party’s electoral prospects.

Rahul also accused Srinivas of falsely questioning the integrity of veteran leaders like Sridhar Babu, Ponnam Prabhakar, and Uttam Kumar Reddy, and warned against tolerating such actions while being within the party fold.

He announced plans to meet PCC Chief Bomma Mahesh Kumar and Meenakshi Natarajan soon to urge disciplinary action against Srinivas and reaffirmed confidence in the Congress’s strength in the upcoming local body elections.
