Director Controversial Remarks on Anshu at ‘Majaka’ Movie Launch Spark Backlash

NEWS CHARIO : Director Trinadha Rao Nakkina, known for his bold and often controversial comments, is in the spotlight once again following his remarks about actress Anshu during the teaser launch event of his upcoming film Majaka. The comments, which were made in a lighthearted manner, have gone viral, drawing sharp criticism on social media.

At the event, Nakkina first made fun of anchor Geetha Bhagat, commenting inappropriately about her greeting gesture. The comments appeared to be offensive and left the anchor in an awkward position, as she struggled to respond. However, his remarks about Anshu, who plays the lead role in Majaka, became the focal point of the controversy.

Nakkina recalled his childhood memories of watching the film Manmadhudu, where Anshu’s character was remembered as “laddoos” (a term referencing fuller body types), and expressed surprise at her transformation. He remarked that when he saw Anshu in Majaka, he was stunned by her weight loss, commenting on her body shape in an uncomfortable and inappropriate manner. He further commented that it would have been difficult for her to maintain those body types, making several remarks that many found distasteful.

As if that wasn’t enough, he then made a joke about forgetting the name of the second heroine, and in the same breath, asked for water in a way that seemed out of place. The incident has sparked outrage, with many netizens taking to social media to express their displeasure at his insensitive remarks.

Many have criticized Nakkina for his lack of decorum, urging him to learn how to speak properly on stage before directing films. Netizens have called for a change in his approach and for him to be more mindful of the language he uses, especially in public events. Despite the controversy, Majaka, starring Sandeep Kishan, is set for release on February 21, with Anshu and Ritu Varma in the lead roles.
