Drivers Key to Preventing Child Trafficking: Awareness Program Held in Mahabubabad

NEWS CHARIOT:-An awareness seminar on the role of drivers in preventing human trafficking was held at Mudiraj Bhavan in Mahabubabad town on Friday. The event was organized by the FMM Social Service Organization, Warangal, under the leadership of the organization’s director and sister assistant. The seminar aimed to sensitize drivers about their vital role in curbing child trafficking.
Child Welfare Committee Chairperson Dr. Nagavani and Mahabubabad SHE Teams SI Sunanda were the chief guests. Speaking at the event, Dr. Nagavani highlighted that children under the age of 18 are often subjected to abuse and violence. Without proper care and protection, such children become vulnerable to trafficking. She noted that traffickers commonly use private vehicles to move victims from one place to another and urged drivers to remain vigilant.
She emphasized that drivers such as those of autos, cabs, trucks, and buses—who are constantly on the roads—are in a unique position to identify and report suspicious activities. She advised them to immediately contact the police (Dial 100) or Childline (1098) if they suspect illegal transportation of children or women.
SI Sunanda echoed these sentiments and thanked the FMM organization for inviting her to the event, held under the guidance of Mahabubabad SP Sri Sudheer R Nath Kekane, IPS. She stated that some drivers may unknowingly become involved in crimes against children and stressed the need for awareness programs to prevent such incidents.
She also warned about the link between criminal behavior and substance abuse, urging drivers to stay away from drugs and alcohol. “Passengers, especially children and women, trust you. It is your duty to ensure their safety,” she said. She encouraged the public to report child-related crimes to SHE Teams (Phone: 8712656935), Dial 100, or Childline 1098.
The event was attended by Dr. David (CWC Member), FMM staff including Project Coordinator Err. Srikanth, Finance Manager Ajay Kumar, field coordinators Sirisha and Samarareddy, Auto Union President Veeranna, police personnel, and around 60 local drivers.
