Drug Dealers Exploit Holi Festivities to Sell Cannabis in Hyderabad

NEWS CHARIOT:-As people across the country celebrate Holi with colors and joy, some criminals are using the occasion to engage in illegal activities. In Telangana, particularly in Hyderabad, the festival has been marked by vibrant celebrations, but drug dealers have found new ways to exploit the event. The city police have launched a crackdown to prevent drug sales during the festivities.
In the Lower Dhoolpet area of Hyderabad, Holi celebrations were in full swing with people of all ages coming together to enjoy the festival. However, drug dealers took advantage of the celebrations, selling cannabis-laced products disguised as common festive treats. They were found selling kulfi ice cream, burfi sweets, and silver-coated balls, all containing cannabis.
The Excise Police, acting on a tip-off, raided the area and apprehended a man named Satyanarayana Singh, who was selling cannabis-infused kulfi ice creams. Police seized the ice creams, burfi sweets, and silver-coated balls. The method of packaging and selling the drugs left even the police surprised, as it was done cleverly to avoid detection.
Excise Officer Anji Reddy confirmed that Satyanarayana was arrested and a case was filed against him. He emphasized that both the purchase and sale of drugs, whether during festivals or regular days, would attract strict legal action. Reddy urged the youth to avoid drugs and warned them about the dangers of ruining their lives with such substances.
The police have assured the public that they are taking strict measures to prevent the sale of illegal drugs during festive seasons and that they are committed to keeping the celebrations safe for everyone. They also urged people to be cautious and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
