Drunk Man Dials Police 77 Times, Abuses Emergency Services; Arrested in Sangareddy

Officials revealed that Suresh misused the Dial 100 service by making fake distress calls, confusing the emergency operators by mispronouncing his village’s name, changing his identity, and concocting various false stories. His excuses ranged from life-threatening emergencies like “I’m dying,” to claims that his wife was missing, or even reporting he had filled petrol — none of which were true.
What began as a drunken prank soon turned into a serious public safety issue. Authorities stated that such repeated misuse significantly disrupted police services, diverting valuable time and resources away from genuine emergency cases. “Several times, due to Suresh’s false alarms, our teams were delayed in responding to real emergencies,” said an official.
Following multiple complaints and monitoring of call logs, the police were finally able to track and apprehend Suresh. A case has been registered against him for misusing public emergency services and for causing unnecessary public alarm. Police issued a stern warning to the public, stating that misusing the Dial 100 emergency service — whether in jest, intoxication, or with malicious intent — is a punishable offense.
This incident serves as a reminder that emergency services must be used responsibly. The police also urged citizens to report anyone found deliberately misusing the service.
