Efforts to Develop Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake as Major Tourist Destinations

NEWS CHARIOT (BHUPALPALLY, JAN.7) : The Secretary of the State Tourism and Youth Services Department, Smitha Sabharwal, emphasized the importance of preserving the architectural heritage of Kota Gullu and developing Ganapa Samudram Lake as major tourist spots to enhance local tourism. She highlighted the strategic plan to develop key tourist destinations, particularly focusing on Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake, to improve the tourism infrastructure and boost the local economy.

Key Observations during the Inspection

Accompanied by the District Collector, Rahul Sharma, along with senior officials iSmitha Sabharwal inspected the Kota Gullu Temple located in Ghanapuram, within the Jayashankar Bhupalpally district. The team gathered detailed information about the significance of the temple and the surrounding lands.

The Kota Gullu Temple is a significant historical and cultural site, and its preservation is critical for future generations. Sabharwal noted that both Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake have the potential to become important hubs for tourism, and the government is committed to preserving the site’s heritage while developing the area for tourism.

Inclusion under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme

The Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake have been included under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment (SASCI) Scheme. This initiative is part of the development of the Ramappa Region Sustainable Temple & Tourism Circuit, with an allocation of Rs. 73.74 crores for the enhancement of these areas.

Tourism Development Plans for Ganapa Samudram Lake

Following the review of various proposals, Smitha Sabharwal also inspected Ganapa Samudram Lake, which will be a focal point for the region’s tourism development. The proposed development works for the lake include:

  • Security Entrance Gate: To ensure the safety and security of tourists.
  • Parking Areas: Adequate parking spaces for visitors to manage the influx of tourists.
  • Restaurants and Washrooms: Essential amenities to improve the comfort and convenience of tourists.
  • Lakeview Resorts and Cottages: Development of accommodation facilities that offer stunning views of the lake.
  • Children’s Playing Park: A family-friendly area designed to engage young visitors.
  • Wide CC Roads: Construction of six wide concrete roads for better access and traffic management.
  • Island Construction with Boating Facility: Adding recreational elements like boating and an island to enhance the lake’s appeal as a tourist destination.

Expediting the Developmental Works

Smitha Sabharwal instructed the officials to expedite the ongoing development works at both Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake. The goal is to make these sites accessible to tourists soon, positioning them as key local tourist destinations. By upgrading the infrastructure and ensuring the preservation of the cultural heritage, the state aims to attract more visitors, thus boosting the local economy and enhancing the overall tourism experience.

A Vision for Sustainable Tourism

The development plan for Kota Gullu and Ganapa Samudram Lake is part of a broader vision to integrate sustainable tourism with the preservation of cultural and historical heritage.
