Eight Senior IPS Officers in the Race for Telangana DGP Post

NEWS CHARIOT : — The race for the next Director General of Police (DGP) of Telangana has officially begun, with the state government forwarding the names of eight senior IPS officers to the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) for consideration.

The list includes:

  • Ravi Gupta (1990 batch)

  • C.V. Anand (1991 batch)

  • Dr. Jitender (1992 batch)

  • Apte Vinayak Prabhakar (1994 batch)

  • Kothakota Srinivas Reddy (1994 batch)

  • B. Shivadhar Reddy (1994 batch)

  • Dr. Soumya Mishra (1994 batch)

  • Shikha Goel (1994 batch)

The UPSC will shortlist three candidates from the list based on eligibility criteria and send the final panel back to the state government.

Dr. Jitender, the current DGP, is set to retire on September 6, 2025. Other senior officers close to retirement include Kothakota Srinivas Reddy (August 5, 2025) and Ravi Gupta (December 19, 2025).

Among those with longer tenures left in service are:

  • C.V. Anand (till June 2028)

  • Apte Vinayak Prabhakar (till October 2029)

  • B. Shivadhar Reddy (till April 28, 2026)

  • Dr. Soumya Mishra (till December 30, 2027)

  • Shikha Goel (till March 2029)

The final decision is expected soon, as the state prepares for a smooth leadership transition in its top police post.
