Faculty Sensitization Program on Indian Standards Held at NIT Warangal

NEWS CHARIOT:-The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal, in collaboration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), hosted a Faculty Sensitization Program focused on Standardization and Indian Standards. The initiative stems from a recently signed MoU between BIS and NIT Warangal, aimed at strengthening academic participation in the national standardization ecosystem.
The program was inaugurated by Prof. Bidyadhar Subudhi, Director, NIT Warangal; KV Rao, Senior Director, BIS; and PV Srikanth, Director and Head, BIS Hyderabad Branch. The event was coordinated by Prof. Ratheesh, the nodal faculty for BIS activities at NIT Warangal.
Senior BIS officials from Delhi and Hyderabad, including Director T Sujatha, Joint Director Shri Rakesh Tanneeru, and Deputy Directors K. Kavin, Shri Rajesh, and G. Ajit Kumar, engaged with faculty members across departments. The sessions covered BIS’s role in formulating standards, quality testing, research initiatives, and student-oriented programs like Standard Clubs.
Prof. Subudhi stressed the need to make students aware of Indian standards from the classroom level. He suggested establishing a BIS Centre of Excellence at NIT Warangal and emphasized collaboration in research and education.
KV Rao highlighted BIS’s 78-year legacy and explained how Indian Standards are vital to everyday life and national development. He underlined the importance of academic partnerships in widening BIS’s outreach.
PV Srikanth elaborated on the benefits of the MoU and encouraged both institutions to work together effectively for impactful implementation.
The event concluded with technical sessions and enthusiastic participation from faculty members across disciplines.
