Fake IPS Officer Creates Chaos During Pawan Kalyan’s Visit; Arrested by Police

NEWS CHARIOT (Vijayanagaram, Dec.28) : A dramatic case of impersonation came to light during Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan’s recent visit to Parvathipuram Manyam district in Andhra Pradesh. A man named Balivada Suryaprakash (41), hailing from Vizianagaram district, posed as an IPS officer, mingling with security personnel, taking selfies, and even participating in official activities. The police later arrested him and revealed the extent of his deception.
On December 20, during Pawan Kalyan’s visit to Bagujola village in Makkuva Mandal, Suryaprakash, dressed in a police uniform, managed to infiltrate the high-security event. He roamed freely, clicked photos near the inauguration plaque unveiled by Pawan Kalyan, and posed with security personnel. After the event, he used these pictures as WhatsApp statuses to bolster his fake identity as an IPS officer.
Suryaprakash’s background revealed a history of deceit and impersonation. He completed his B.Tech in Bobbili and pursued an MBA in Karnataka. He served as a sepoy in Punjab’s 26th Army Regiment between 2003-05 but later resigned.
- Fraudulent Activities:
- In 2020, after discovering documents related to a 9-acre land purchase agreement made by his late father in 2005, he devised a plan to reclaim the land illegally.
- By claiming he was an IPS officer selected in 2024, he intimidated the farmers owning the land. As a result, they ceded 90 cents of the property to him.
- Leveraging an old license from the Weights and Measures Department, he previously impersonated an inspector to extort money in Vizianagaram.
Suryaprakash’s fraudulent activities weren’t limited to Pawan Kalyan’s visit. In August, 2023, he attended an Independence Day celebration at a private school in Garividi, claiming to be a trainee IPS officer. Acting as the chief guest, he interacted with students and local officials. Photos from the event, shared on WhatsApp groups, convinced many of his fake identity. He met several police officers, including the Cheepurupalli DSP, and shared photos with them to strengthen his credibility.
The truth about Suryaprakash’s identity unraveled after his activities during Pawan Kalyan’s visit raised suspicions. The police launched an investigation and arrested him on Saturday, presenting him before the Salur Court.
During a press briefing, ASPs Dilip Kiran and Ankita Surana disclosed details of the case. They confirmed his fraudulent claims, motives behind impersonation, and the methods he used to manipulate people.
The revelation of Suryaprakash’s deception has left locals and even officials shocked. Many who believed his claims of being an IPS officer are now questioning how he managed to sustain his charade for so long.
This incident has highlighted the audacity of impersonators and the need for stringent checks during high-profile events.
