Father Names Newborn Daughter ‘Sindoor’ After India’s Retaliatory Strike on Pakistan

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a unique expression of patriotism, a man from Bihar’s Katihar district has named his newborn daughter “Sindoor” to commemorate a significant military operation launched by India against terrorist camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

Kundan Kumar Mandal, a resident of Katihar, chose the name “Sindoor” as a tribute to the military action carried out by the Indian government on May 7. The operation, also called “Sindoor,” was launched in response to the April 22 terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu & Kashmir, which claimed the lives of 26 civilians. The attack, allegedly orchestrated by Pakistan-based terrorist groups, led India to take a series of decisive actions.

Explaining his choice, Mandal said that his daughter may not understand the meaning behind her name now, but he believes she will grow up to appreciate its significance. “This name represents our nation’s courage. It will always remind her of the sacrifice of innocent lives and the strength of our country’s response,” he said.

Family members supported the name, expressing pride in India’s strong stand against terrorism. Medical staff at the hospital where the baby was born also approved the name, calling it a patriotic gesture.

Following the Pahalgam incident, India gathered strong evidence pointing to Pakistan’s involvement. As a result, the Indian government announced several key measures, including the cancellation of the Indus Waters Treaty and ordering Pakistani nationals to leave the country within a set deadline.

On May 7, just days after the attack, India launched airstrikes targeting terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. The strikes reportedly killed nearly 100 militants. The operation was officially named “Sindoor,” symbolizing the red mark of sacrifice and strength.

Coinciding with the timing of this operation, the birth of Mandal’s daughter inspired him to name her after it — turning a personal moment of joy into a symbol of national pride.
