Fire Accident at Singapore Cooking School Injures 19, Including Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan’s Son

NEWS CHARIOT:-A fire broke out earlier today at a popular children’s cooking school in Singapore, injuring 15 students and 4 adults, and drawing nationwide attention due to the involvement of a high-profile student — Mark Shankar Pawanovich, son of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

The incident occurred around 9:45 AM at the Tomato Cooking School, located on the second and third floors of a shophouse along River Valley Road. Emergency services responded swiftly, with the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) deploying three water jets to bring the fire under control within 30 minutes. Authorities evacuated approximately 80 people from the building, averting a potential tragedy.

Though the fire caused panic, no lives were lost. Among the injured, Mark Shankar Pawanovich reportedly sustained minor leg injuries and is undergoing treatment. His condition is said to be stable, and he is expected to make a full recovery.The cause of the fire is still under investigation. However, early reports suggest it may have originated in one of the school’s kitchen training areas.

The Tomato Cooking School, established in 2020 by the founders of Newton Show Camp, has earned a reputation for offering unique culinary training to children. The school teaches various cooking techniques, including baking, cutting, frying, serving, and food preservation. It is known for its premium programs, charging up to ₹43,000 per week.Mark Shankar was attending a summer training camp at the school, which began on March 3, 2025, and is scheduled to run until May 16.
