Gang Selling Fake Pesticides Under Big Brand Names Arrested

NEWS CHARIOT:-The Task Force and Mattewada Police have arrested seven individuals involved in selling counterfeit and expired pesticides under the names of reputed brands. One accused is absconding, while another is already in jail.According to Warangal Police Commissioner Sunpreet Singh, the gang was deceiving farmers by selling expired and fake pesticides, leading to financial and agricultural losses.

During the raid, police confiscated expired and counterfeit pesticides, fake seeds, machinery used for manufacturing fake products, printing materials, two cars, and six mobile phones. The total value of the seized items is Rs.78.63 lakhs.

The arrested individuals include Irukulla Vedaprakash (53), Mohammed Siddiq Ali (46), Nooka Rajesh alias Raju (40), Yallam Sadashivudu (57), MD Rafeeq (50), Allacheruvu Shekar (37), and Podilla Sambayya (55). Vishnu Vardhan is absconding, while Muddagula Aditya (32) is in jail.

Based on a tip-off, the Task Force and Mattewada Police, along with agricultural authorities, raided Irukulla Vedaprakash’s residence in Bodrai, Mattewada. Three accused were arrested on the spot, and a large stock of expired pesticides was seized.

The gang purchased expired pesticides from traders and company representatives, including Siddiq, and also procured counterfeit pesticides branded as Dhanuka, Tata, Rallis, Bayer, and Adama. These products were sold to unsuspecting farmers without any government authorization.

Police raided additional locations, seizing fake pesticides, counterfeit labels, manufacturing equipment, and other illegal materials. Efforts are ongoing to apprehend the absconding accused.Commissioner Sunpreet Singh commended the Task Force and police officials for their swift action in busting the racket.
