Good Samaritan Scheme: Now, Save Lives and Earn Rewards!

NEWS CHARIOT : Every day, we witness several road accidents, but many hesitate to help the victims due to fear of getting entangled in legal issues. However, from now on, there’s no need to fear when you come across a person in distress after a road accident. In fact, if you assist the injured and save their lives, you could earn a reward of up to ₹25,000!
The Good Samaritan Scheme, launched by the Central Government four years ago, offers rewards to individuals who help road accident victims by immediately taking them to the hospital and saving their lives. Initially, the reward was ₹5,000. However, the government has now increased the amount to ₹25,000 to encourage more people to come forward and help accident victims. Additionally, if a person helps multiple victims, they can earn an extra ₹1 lakh.
Road accident victims often lose their lives due to the delay in receiving timely medical assistance. However, if the victims are rushed to the hospital within the Golden Hour (the first hour after the accident), their chances of survival significantly increase. To encourage this, the Good Samaritan Scheme ensures that people who assist accident victims are protected from legal repercussions.
Here’s how it works:
- Once you take the injured person to the hospital, inform the police station.
- After the treatment, the police will issue an official letter.
- You need to submit your Aadhaar card, bank account details, police verification, and hospital confirmation letter to the Mandal Revenue Officer (MRO).
- Upon successful verification, you will receive the monetary reward.
The government reports that with the increased reward, the number of people coming forward to help victims has steadily increased, and the Good Samaritan Scheme is making a real difference in saving lives.
So, next time you see someone in need, don’t hesitate to help — not only could you save a life, but you might also be rewarded for your kindness!
