Goods Train Derails at Raghavapur Railway Station in Peddapalli

NEWS CHARIOT (Peddapalli, Nov.13) : A goods train carrying iron ore from Ballari of Karnataka to Ghaziabad of Uttar Pradesh was derailed at Raghavapur railway station on Tuesday night here in Peddapalli district.
The train with 44 wagons was heading towards Kazipet railway, before it reached Raghavapur railway station it derailed. Around 11 wagons of the goods train overturned in the incident. Three railway tracks were damaged halting several train services. The Loco Pilot and guard present on the train narrowly escaped from the accident unhurt.
Reacting immediately to the incident, the railway authorities took up repairing works along with removing the wagons and materials fallen from the wagons using huge and large cranes. They opined that because of heavy load, the goods train might have been derailed from the railway track resulting in the accident.
Several superfast, express and passenger train services which are operated in the same route between Kazipet and Ballaharshah were stopped at the respective railway stations.
After learning about the accident, the railway authorities stopped the Sampark Kranthi, Bhagyanagar superfast express trains at Peddapalli railway station and Navjeevan superfast express train at Bizigiri Sharif railway station.
Meanwhile, the authorities of the South Central Railways cancelled as many as 37 train services which will run between Delhi and Chennai along with partially cancelling 4 train services and diverting around 60 trains.
