The couple, Bapan Sheikh and Madhu Khatun, have been married for nine years and live in the Bairpara area under the jurisdiction of the Shantipur Police Station. The couple has an eight-year-old daughter. According to reports, Bapan Sheikh, a frequent drinker, had previously made disturbing comments about his wife’s physical appearance. He allegedly told her on several occasions that he found her nose very beautiful and, if given the opportunity, he would bite it.
The shocking event occurred in the early hours of February 2, around 3 AM. While Madhu Khatun was asleep, her husband, Bapan, allegedly carried out his threat. He bit her nose, which caused severe bleeding. As she ran out of the house, terrified, Bapan reportedly followed her and bit her finger. Madhu, in distress, then sought help from her mother, Reshma Begum, and the two went to the Shantipur Police Station to file a complaint against Bapan.
