Hyderabad Metro to Enhance Commuter Experience with Skywalks
NEWS CHARIOT:-In a bid to further improve passenger convenience and strengthen the city’s public transportation system, Hyderabad Metro Rail has announced the introduction of skywalks from metro stations. This move is aimed at enhancing connectivity and easing access to nearby commercial and residential complexes. The announcement was made by Hyderabad Metro’s Managing Director, NVS Reddy, who outlined the benefits of skywalks for daily commuters.

As part of this initiative, skywalks will be built connecting metro stations to adjacent private buildings, including commercial and residential complexes. These elevated walkways will make it easier for passengers to move between the metro stations and their destinations without having to navigate busy streets. NVS Reddy emphasized that the construction of these skywalks will not only improve passenger access but will also bolster the metro’s integration with the city’s broader infrastructure.

Additionally, the skywalks will offer a safer alternative to crossing busy roads, which can often be hazardous for pedestrians. This new feature is expected to enhance the overall commuting experience by reducing time spent navigating crowded streets, especially during peak hours. Officials noted that the elevated walkways would make it more convenient for people traveling to work, shopping, or any other activity that requires using the metro system.

The decision to introduce skywalks was reached after a meeting between NVS Reddy and Sarfaraz Ahmed, Metropolitan Commissioner of the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA). It is also anticipated that the skywalks will alleviate congestion around busy metro stations, ensuring a smoother flow of commuters.

This initiative comes as part of a broader effort to modernize and expand Hyderabad’s metro system. In fact, one of the first major skywalk projects has already been initiated at the Uppal Metro Station, signaling the beginning of a new phase in Hyderabad Metro’s growth. With these additions, the metro system is expected to become even more efficient and user-friendly, further establishing itself as a key mode of transportation in the city..
