India vs New Zealand Champions Trophy 2025: ICC’s Rules for a Washed-Out Final & India’s Quest for Revenge

NEWS CHARIOT:-The highly anticipated ICC Champions Trophy 2025 final will be held in Dubai, where Team India will face off against New Zealand. India secured their spot by defeating Australia, while New Zealand reached the final after overcoming South Africa. The match is scheduled to take place on March 9.With India’s qualification for the final, Pakistan, the original host of the tournament, has suffered a major blow. If the match is affected by weather conditions, the ICC has set out specific rules to determine the winner.
Although Dubai typically sees very little rain, in case of bad weather or a washed-out match, the ICC has made provisions to determine a champion.
In the event of rain during the India vs New Zealand final, a reserve day will be scheduled. The match will resume from where it was halted on the original day.To declare a result, at least 25 overs must be played. If this is met, the DLS (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern) method will be used to announce the result. If the match ends in a tie, the ICC will allow for a Super Over to determine the winner.
If both days of the final are washed out due to rain, and no result is determined for any reason, India and New Zealand will be declared joint winners.
Looking back at history, the 2025 final marks the 25th anniversary of India’s last encounter with New Zealand in a Champions Trophy final, which ended in a loss for India. This year, Team India is determined to avenge that defeat and claim the trophy.
