‘Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari’ Returns in 3D as It Marks 35 Iconic Years

The re-release is being spearheaded by legendary producer Aswani Dutt through his son-in-law, visionary filmmaker Nag Ashwin, who is currently directing the much-anticipated Kalki 2898 AD. The move has generated considerable excitement among fans, especially as JVAS holds a cherished place in Indian cinematic history.
Reflecting on the occasion, megastar Chiranjeevi shared heartfelt memories, particularly of his late co-star, Sridevi. “I miss Sridevi very much on this occasion. She was the heart of JVAS—her character felt like a dream. It was the first time we worked together, and our chemistry was truly special,” he said, visibly emotional.
While a sequel to JVAS had long been a subject of speculation, Chiranjeevi’s latest comments have reignited the conversation. “Initially, I wasn’t in favor of a sequel. But today, I’d love to see Nag Ashwin direct it with Ram Charan and Janhvi Kapoor. The story would be closely tied to the original—it could be a dream project for both actors,” he hinted, sparking excitement across social media.
JVAS was a box office sensation in its time, made on a modest budget of Rs 2 crore and grossing Rs 15 crore—a record then. Tickets sold at Rs 5 were reportedly resold for as much as Rs 200, demonstrating the film’s popularity. Directed by K. Raghavendra Rao and featuring music by Ilayaraja, the film also starred the late Amrish Puri as the menacing antagonist.
Trade analysts are optimistic about the 3D re-release drawing enthusiastic crowds. A special screening is expected, with Chiranjeevi likely to join fans in reliving the magic of this iconic tale.
