Kakatiya Zoological Park to Welcome White Tigers and Lions, Announces Minister Konda Surekha

NEWS CHARIOT : In an exciting development, Konda Surekha, the State Minister for the Forests and Endowment Departments, has announced that white tigers and lions will soon be introduced to the Kakatiya Zoological Park. This move is part of an ongoing effort to enhance the zoo and provide visitors with more diverse animal experiences.

The announcement came after the minister, accompanied by Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and KUDA Chairman Enagala Venkatram Reddy, inaugurated a new tiger enclosure at the zoo. The enclosure was constructed with a budget of Rs. 70 lakhs, sanctioned by the state government.

Massive New Tiger Enclosure

This new enclosure is one of the largest in the state, offering an expansive space for its inhabitants. With an 18-feet high structure and 224 meters of width, the enclosure provides ample space for the two tigers housed there. The male tiger, named Shankar, is 10 years old, while the female tigress, Kareena, is 15 years old. Both animals are reported to be in excellent health and very active. Along with the tigers, the zoo has also introduced enclosures for other animals, including the Indian Gaur, Hog Deer, and Barking Deer.

Zoo Park’s Expansion and Future Plans

Following the inauguration, Minister Konda Surekha laid the foundation stone for essential infrastructure development at the zoo, with an investment of Rs. 1 crore. She expressed her satisfaction with the recent additions to the zoo and highlighted the zoo’s commitment not only to housing animals but also to preserving various plant species.

Konda Surekha noted that the two tigers were brought from the Hyderabad Zoo Park and confirmed that the current zoo is classified as a medium-category zoo. She mentioned the state government’s plans to further expand the zoo, with proposals already sent to the Central Government for infrastructure development and zoo park upgrades. The Minister expressed confidence that the Central Government would respond positively to the proposals.

Government Commitment to Zoo Development

The Minister assured the public that the government is prepared to allocate the necessary funds for the zoo’s continued growth and improvement. She instructed the Zoo Commissioner to submit a detailed report for future developments. The government’s continued investment in the zoo underscores its commitment to environmental conservation, education, and providing quality animal care and public experiences.
