Karimnagar Police nabbed cyber fraud

NEWS CHARIOT, (Karimnagar, Nov.24) : The police officials of the cyber crime department nabbed a cyber criminal who looted Rs.21.8 lakhs from a woman in the name of a customs department officer here in Karimnagar on Saturday.

According to the cyber crime ACP V.Narasimha Reddy the accused was identified as Sadanshu Shekar Mohanthi (33) was the resident of Bhubaneswar of Orissa state.

In the name of a Customs department officer, Mohanti made a phone call to the woman of Karimnagar town and informed that she got a parcel from Indira Gandhi Airport and there are many ATM cards, drugs and passports in that parcel and she needs to come to talk to the Delhi police.

He then made others talk in conferences like that of Delhi police officials. Believing the accused person Mohanti, the victim sent Rs.21.8 lakhs in two phases to him. Later, she learnt that she had been cheated by the cyber criminals and then lodged the complaint with the cyber crime police station.

Receiving the complaint, the cyber crime sub-inspector Vamshi Krishna along with his staff traced Mohanti through his bank account details and nabbed him at Bhubaneswar. Bringing Mohanti to Karimnagar, the cyber crime police sent him for remand, he added.
