NEWS CHARIOT (Vemulawada, Nov.15) : The Karthika Pournima which falls on the full moon day was celebrated on a grand note with religious fervor here at Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple in Vemulawada of Rajanna Sircilla district on Friday.

Right from the early hours, a large number of devotees thronged to various Lord Shiva Temples after taking holy bath with amla fruits and leaves mixed in water- a ritual which is followed by the people on the day of Karthika Pournima and offered prayers.

Large number of people thronged to Vemulawada Sri Raja Rajeshwara Swamy temple on the occasion of Karthika Pournima, the devotees after taking holy bath offered prayers to the presiding deities.

Some of the devotees along with family members also performed Samuhika Satyanarayana Swamy Vratham coinciding with the Karthika Pournima at the temple premises.

Devotees, who followed rituals by keeping fast entire month of Karthika Masam performed saligrama pooja at various temples of Lord Shiva chanting with Shiva Sahasranamam and Shiva Stotras.

The Women devotees concluded the celebrations, by lighting the lamps in Pramidhalu (Deepams) and placed them in front of the banana and amla trees or a Tulasi plant with winks ranging from 21 to 365 and some of them released the lamps into the water and at the temple premises.
