Kerala Shaken by Multiple Homicides: Man Confesses to Killing Six

NEWS CHARIOT :  A chilling wave of violence has gripped the Venzaramoodu area of Thiruvananthapuram, as a 23-year-old man, identified as Afan, confessed to the brutal murders of six people, including members of his own family and his girlfriend. He surrendered to local police, admitting to the heinous crimes.

Initial reports indicated that Afan’s victims included his grandmother, uncle, aunt, girlfriend, and younger brother. However, subsequent investigations revealed that his mother, who was initially believed to be deceased, is critically injured and battling for her life in a hospital. Police confirmed that she is suffering from cancer and is in a precarious condition.

The investigation has uncovered a complex web of motives and a disturbing sequence of events. Afan reportedly visited three separate locations in Venzaramoodu, changing his statements frequently during police questioning. He claimed that his father, who works in Dubai, had accumulated a debt of 7.5 million rupees, plunging the family into severe financial distress. This, he alleged, was a primary factor that drove him to commit the murders.

Afan’s confession included details of his movements: he first attacked his grandmother at her residence in Pangode, approximately 25 kilometers from Venzaramoodu, using a hammer. He then proceeded to his uncle and aunt’s home, four kilometers away, where he carried out another violent assault. En route back, he collected his girlfriend and his younger brother from school, before returning to his own home. There, he attacked his mother, brother, and girlfriend.

Following the attacks, Afan ingested poison and then turned himself in to the police, confessing to the murders. He also admitted to stealing his mother’s necklace before the attacks, and stated that he had planned to commit suicide.

Police have confirmed that the bodies of Afan’s grandmother, uncle, aunt, girlfriend, and brother have been recovered and sent for post-mortem examinations. Afan and his critically injured mother are currently receiving medical treatment. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities working to clarify the exact motives and circumstances surrounding the gruesome events, particularly the role of his girlfriend in the matter.
