KTR Slams Govt Over Gulzar House Fire Tragedy, Demands Rs. 25 Lakh Compensation

NEWS CHARIOT:-BRS Working President K.T. Rama Rao (KTR) expressed deep grief over the tragic fire accident at Gulzar House in Hyderabad, which claimed the lives of 17 members of the Agarwal family. The family, residing near Charminar for 125 years, perished in a fire that exposed glaring lapses in emergency response infrastructure.
KTR criticized the government’s misplaced focus, stating, “The attention given to beauty pageants should be diverted to developing basic emergency infrastructure.” He pointed out that the fire engines arrived without water, and the fire brigade lacked proper oxygen masks, rendering them helpless in saving lives. Ambulances too lacked oxygen cylinders and essential equipment.
Calling it one of the worst tragedies in Hyderabad’s history, he emphasized that the loss could have been mitigated with basic preparedness. “Had the ambulances and fire trucks been equipped properly, at least a few lives might have been saved,” he said. Despite the chaos, KTR acknowledged the humanity of local Hindus and Muslims who rushed to help during the fire.
KTR demanded a compensation of Rs. 25 lakhs for each affected family and urged the state government to help the Agarwal family restart their business. He called on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to visit the site and conduct a review meeting on fire safety, especially as summer raises the risk of such incidents.
He also urged regular mock drills, officer training, and improvement in Old City’s infrastructure, where dense population and narrow roads hinder emergency response.
Stating he was not politicizing the issue, KTR insisted, “Let this not happen again. Respond with humanity, not delay.”
