NEW CHARIOT (KU.JAN.3 ) : In a thought-provoking address on the occasion of Savitribai Phule’s 194th birth anniversary, Kakatiya University Vice Chancellor, Acharya K. Pratap Reddy, emphasized that “education is the key to social development.” Speaking as the chief guest at an event organized by the University’s Women’s Studies Centre and BC Cell, he underscored the critical role that education plays in empowering individuals and shaping societal progress.
The event, which celebrated Women’s Teachers’ Day, was presided over by Dr. B. Deepa Jyothi, the Director of the Women’s Studies Centre. Vice Chancellor Reddy praised the dedication and unique approach of female teachers, acknowledging that their commitment and work ethic often set them apart from their male counterparts. He commended the contributions of female educators to the academic community and called for greater recognition of their hard work.
Looking ahead, he proposed that future Women’s Teachers’ Day events should include honoring female teachers for their exceptional service and contributions to the educational sector. The event also saw the participation of Registrar, Acharya P. Mallareddy, who highlighted the importance of taking inspiration from Savitribai Phule. While commemorating her legacy, Mallareddy emphasized that simply remembering her was not enough; society must actively adopt her principles and dedication.
Reflecting on the challenges Phule faced over 200 years ago, Mallareddy pointed out that she used education as a weapon for empowerment, fighting against societal oppression and pushing the boundaries of what was possible for women in her time.
The event concluded with a renewed commitment to fostering an environment of respect, equality, and recognition for female educators, as their contributions continue to shape the future of education in the country.
