Left Parties Demand Peace Talks, Condemn Rights Abuses

NEWS CHARIOT:-In a strong and unified voice, Left parties across the spectrum have demanded that the central government initiate unconditional peace talks with Maoists and immediately halt Operation Kagar, which they allege is a brutal campaign targeting tribal populations in the name of security.
The demand was raised during a state-level conference organized at Desoddaraka Bhavan, Basheer Bagh, Hyderabad on Friday. The event was chaired by CPI State Secretary and MLA Kunamneni Sambasiva Rao and saw participation from a broad coalition of Left leaders and social activists.
Key speakers included MLC Nellikanti Satyam, Justice B. Chandra Kumar, CPI(M) State Secretary John Wesley, CPI(ML) New Democracy State Secretariat Member Vemulapalli Venkatramaiah, MCPI(U) State Secretary Gadagoni Ravi, CPI(ML) Mass State Secretariat Member K.G. Ramchander, and CPI(ML) Liberation State Secretary Raja Ramesh, among others.
The speakers criticized the central government for what they called unconstitutional and inhumane actions in tribal areas, particularly around Karregutta, where over 25,000 central armed forces have reportedly been deployed. The leaders claimed this deployment is intended not for national security, but for suppressing the voices of tribal communities and possibly staging a massacre.
They emphasized that the Maoists had not initiated any attacks recently and had even expressed willingness for peace talks, but the central government has failed to reciprocate this gesture. Instead, they alleged, the government has intensified militarization and continued Operation Kagar, violating the fundamental rights of citizens.
The leaders collectively demanded that the central government uphold democratic values, end military operations in tribal regions, and engage the Maoists in dialogue without any preconditions to ensure lasting peace.
The conference concluded with a call to action for all democratic forces to unite against state-sponsored repression and stand in solidarity with the tribal communities.
